Inhalant Use Drops Among 12-13 Year Olds

The National Inhalant Prevention Coalition analyzed the results of the 2000 National Household Survey and finds some encouraging news! Among youths aged 12 and 13, the rate of past month inhalant use dropped from 1.3% in 1999 to 0.7% in 2000.

This is a scientifically significant drop and is cause for both celebration and hope. Since inhalants are often the first substance of use and the tendency to use inhalants decreases as a child gets older, NIPC projects that this could lead to further overall decreases in inhalant use over time.
